Buckhead, Atlanta Real Estate Essentials

Located north of Midtown Atlanta, Buckhead is a district that covers most of Atlanta’s northside neighborhoods. This sprawling community makes up about a fifth of Atlanta’s land area and has a population of over 78,000. Buckhead is one of the major commercial and financial centers in the Southeast. The district is also one of the most affluent in the country. While single-family homes dominate much of the real estate landscape in Buckhead, the Peachtree Road area is known for high-rise condo and commercial buildings. Although Buckhead is located in Fulton County, Buckhead public schools are part of the Atlanta Public Schools system. Buckhead is home to a number of top private schools in Atlanta, including Atlanta International School, Pace Academy, Lovett School, and The Westminster Schools.

In A Nutshell

The uptown district of Buckhead is home to residents and businesses that reflect the modern affluence that defines the community. Residents can choose between high-rise luxury condos or single-family homes nestled into the dense forests and hills. Every convenience imaginable is located here – from Whole Foods to The Shops at Buckhead and more.

Walking, Biking, or Driving

As a sprawling suburban community, driving will be your main source of transportation. “The Buc” is our free circulator bus that stops at all three MART A stations for greater access to downtown Atlanta. There are plenty of biking and walking routes spread out around Buckhead providing residents with a wide array of choices to get around.

The Scene

Buckhead is a far cry from your typical bedroom community. While we have sections of town that are purely residential and quiet, we also boast an explosive art, fashion, foodie, nightlife and entertainment scene that appeal to every age group.

The Backstory

Founded in 1827 as “Irbyville” after Henry Irby’s general store and tavern, locals began to call the area Buckhead after Irby shot a buck and hung its head on the wall as a trophy. It then became a small bucolic village laced with country estates, masons and rolling fields. And although the neighborhood has changed considerably over the years, drive down any side road and Buckhead’s true history will burst out in grand splendor.
